Death (and legacy)
Patria suffered a horrible death along with her two sisters, Maria Teresa and Minerva, and Mate, the driver of the Jeep. The government of Trujillo set the death up to make it look as a car accident, but they could see "...the marks on Minervas throat; fingerprints sure as day on Mate's pale neck"(Alvarez 303). Dede could see that they were all clearly beaten, and she knew exactly who did it. Trujillo set it up to look like a car accident, but it did not work out. They were clearly beaten, even though the Jeep was pushed over "...a hairpin curve near where there were three crosses, they pushed the car over the edge"(Alvarez 303). Their death was set up to look as an accident, but they were truly beaten by the orders of Trujillo. They suffered trajic deaths all together.
